Beached Whale found on Central Coast

A 300-kilo and 3-meter long whale carcass, which drifted onshore in An Phu Commune, Tuy Hoa City in the southern province of Phu Yen, was found early Wednesday by local fishermen.

The beached whale, locally known as Ong fish, has been transferred to a nearby temple for later solemn burial rituals.

Local residents believe that a beached whale signals a successful fishing season.
