The biggest year-end program for the poor, Noi Vong Tay Lon (Circle of Unity) is to be broadcast live on VTV3 tonight by the Viet Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee and Viet Nam Television.

The annual event, which usually takes place on the last day of the year, includes introductions to the activities of national poverty-alleviation programs and musical performances by popular artists starting at 8 pm.
The highlight of the show is to be the auctioning off of a gemstone painting spelling out “Vietnamese’ Swings”, a silk painting entitled “Mother’s Love”, and a guitar signed by popular singers.

More than 12,000 items of clothing have already been collected throughout the country for flood victims in the central provinces of Ha Tinh and Quang Binh, according to the show’s organizers.
And VND10.7 billion (US$660,000) was raised by 19 enterprises yesterday in support of the “Fund for the Poor”, which has collected more than VND321 billion (US$19.8 million) so far this year and repaired 52,800 houses of the disadvantaged peoples.
