Binh Duong proposes to build BRT route connecting with HCMC

The southern province of Binh Duong has proposed the Government to build a bus rapid transit (BRT) route connecting the province and Ho Chi Minh City, said director of the provincial Department of Transport Tran Ba Luan yesterday.

Speaking at a traffic safety conference hosted by the department, Mr. Luan said that total investment capital of the project is over VND1.8 trillion ($79.19 million) from Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) funds.
The BRT route is expected to start construction in 2018 and will be built in the following year.
According to Mr. Luan, the province has focused on developing traffic infrastructure. The network of urban roads has strongly developed with tarmacked ratio reaching 94.7 percent.
However urban traffic demand has also highly increased with the major means of transport being motorcycles. For the last recent years, the province had paid attention to bus service.
The proposal  to build the BRT route aimshad  also to help residents easily access high quality public transport system over a large scale.
