British Ambassador says bid farewell to Ho Chi Minh City

Secretary of Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Le Thanh Hai said bid farewell to British Ambassador in Vietnam Mr. Antony Stokes yesterday. 

At the farewell meeting, Ambassador Antony Stokes said goodbye to Vietnam leaders and people after finishing his working term in Vietnam.

Secretary Le Thanh Hai appreciated British Ambassador’s contributions in promoting strategic partnerships between Vietnam and the United Kingdom in the previous time.

Secretary Le Thanh Hai expressed his hope that Mr. Antony Stokes will continue to support Vietnam in any position in the future.

Besides, Secretary Le Thanh Hai expressed his thank to the European Union (EU) including the UK in protesting against China's placing of oil drilling rig Haiyang Shiyou 981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone.

Ambassador Antony Stokes said that British paid close attention  to East Sea situation as well as freedom of navigation on the sea.

Mr. Antony Stokes confirmed British’s opinion that two sides need to respect  the international law, security and freedom of navigation on East Sea.
