The Can Tho Bridge, a cable-stayed bridge located over the Hau River that connects Can Tho City and Vinh Long Province, was linked up October 11.
Located 3.2 kilometers from the Can Tho ferry terminal, the bridge stretches 2,750 meter long with four lanes for traffic and two pedestrian lanes.
Construction of the bridge began in September 2004 with total investment estimated at VND4.84 trillion (about US$342.6 million), of which about 85 percent came from the Japanese ODA and the remaining amount from the Vietnamese Government's couterpart capital.
When Can Tho Bridge is completed in March next year, it will be the longest main span cable-stayed bridge in Southeast Asia.
