The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Can Tho City announced that 3,859 houses were built for the poor and impoverished people in the City this year.
Can Tho City funded VND112 billion for building of 3,000 houses while districts built 198 houses at a cost of VND3.32 billion. Other member organizations of the committee sponsored 661 houses at a cost of VND9.915 billion.
With support from local businesses, Can Tho City has built several social construction works such as bridges, roads and schools at a cost of nearly VND201 billion. Religious groups also organized many charitable activities to help the poor, such as free medical treatment, scholarships for poor students, and free meals at hospitals, spending more than VND29 billion.
