Celebration marks 60th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory

Singing, dancing and other celebrations at the 7/5 Square (May 7) in Dien Bien Phu city on May 6 marked the 60th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, his predecessors Le Kha Phieu and Nong Duc Manh, President Truong Tan Sang, his predecessor Tran Duc Luong were among the dignitaries present at “Dien Bien Phu – The Everlasting Epic.”

Lao Deputy Prime Minister Asang Laoly and Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An were also in attendance.

Ministries, officials, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, war veterans, and volunteers who served in the Dien Bien Phu campaign, and people from around the country took part in the commemoration.
More than 400 artists and 600 students and volunteers performed in the 90-minute program.
There was a dazzling fireworks display on Muong Thanh Bridge, one of the most famous relics of the Dien Bien Phu campaign.
