Ceremony Honors Return of National Front Youth Volunteers’ Remains

At the Youth Volunteers Memorial Site on Hill 82 of Tan Bien District, Tay Ninh Province, yesterday, a ceremony handed over the remains of martyrs who were young soldiers of the National Front and died in the liberation of southern Viet Nam from US occupation.  

Attending the meeting were leaders of cities and provinces where the martyrs were born including Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Long An, Tra Vinh, Kien Giang, Bac Lieu, Ca Mau, Soc Trang, Tay Ninh and Ho Chi Minh City.

Doan Thi Thanh Xuan, Deputy Standing Chairman of the HCMC Former Youth Volunteers Association, revealed the remains of three supposedly ordinary soldiers, 72 young volunteers and 62 revolutionary martyrs were uncovered in southeastern Viet Nam, around Ho Chi Minh City and in Cambodia.

Ms Xuan added that only approximately 27 percent of young National Front volunteers’ remains have been found to date.
