Charitable hearts help victims’ families of ferry wreck

The mournful atmosphere in Quang Hai Commune, brought by the ferry wreck, which took the lives of 42 women and children twenty days ago, has not lifted but its citizens are trying to pick themselves up day by day. People in the country are doing their best to help the victims’ families.

180 delegations have visited the commune and nearly VND3 billion ($171,500) has been raised by agencies, organizations, businesses and individuals.

The commune’s People’s Committee has instructed villagers to help those families with their field work as Quang Hai is entering peak time for rice cultivation.

Women, with babies in the village, have volunteered to breastfeed the newborn babies of deceased mothers.

Party Committee Secretary of Quang Hai Commune, Tran Manh Ho, said that it would be hard for the families to overcome their sorrow without the help of kind hearted people and the commune greatly appreciates their help.
