Le Thanh Hai, Secretary of the Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, accompanied with a high-level delegation, held a meeting with the Economic Development Board of Singapore on March 20.
Mr. Leo Yip Cheong, President of EDB, said the role of EDB is to promote foreign investments. With this model, Singapore has created a friendly business environment with both local and international enterprises.
Besides, Singapore has preferential policies for tax, the development of human resources, talent, integrated infrastructure system, and utility services to support investors in Singapore.
Singapore's investment policy is consistent but flexible. In the process of economic restructuring, the State always has policies to support business development, added Mr. Leo Yip Cheong.
Le Thanh Hai highly appreciated the strategic economic development as well as the business development policies of Singapore.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-Singapore diplomatic ties and bilateral relations.
Until February 2013, Singapore was not only the second largest trading partner of Ho Chi Minh City, with more than 600 projects with a total capital of US$7.8 billion but also the 6th largest import market for the City.
Earlier Mr. Hai and his delegation visited the Uncle Ho memorial at Asian Civilisations Museum of Singapore.
Singapore National Heritage Commission coordinated with the Vietnam Embassy in Singapore and Ho Chi Minh museum to place a statue of the late President Ho Chi Minh in the memorial.
On the same day, the delegation left Singapore. Mr. Hai said that the friendship visits to India and Singapore have strengthened cooperation between HCMC and the two countries.
