Da Nang Breaks Ground on New International Passenger Terminal

The Central Airport Authority yesterday held a ground-breaking ceremony for a new international passenger terminal in the central city of Da Nang.

Covering an area of some 36,600 square meters with three main floors and a basement and having of four passenger-boarding bridges, eleven elevators, six escalators with average speed at 0.5m per second and a luggage transport system, the terminal is expected to receive four million passengers annually by the first quarter of 2010.

U.S-based Wilbur Smith Associates (WSA), France-based Aéroports de Paris Ingenierie (ADPi) and the Airport Design and Construction Consultancy Company (ADCC) of the Ministry of Defense will oversee the project’s construction under a budget of VND1,345 billion (US$84 million).

The new international passenger terminal is part of the airport’s master plan to upgrade itself to be a leading airport of central Viet Nam and the third international air gateway of Viet Nam.
