Earlier on August 12, the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat held a meeting to decide punishment on Nguyen Viet Tien, who was also Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Transport.
The Secretariat concluded that while in his capacity as Deputy Minister and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Transport, Mr Tien lacked a sense of responsibility, having caused serious consequences in management and implementation of ODA projects run by Project Management Unit No.18.
Mr Tien’s irresponsibility in management and education of Party members also gave rise to many Party members’ breaches of Party rules and State laws, according to the Secretariat.
It, therefore, decided to remove Mr Tien from his position as Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Transport and as member of several other Party Committees.
The Secretariat also asked the Prime Minister to dismiss Mr Tien from the position of Deputy Minister of Transport.
