DPRK President Kim Jong-un ends official friendly visit to Vietnam

Chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea cum State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong-un and the high- ranking delegation of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea yesterday afternoon boarded a private train at Dong Dang Railway Station to leave Vietnam, ending the official friendly visit to the country.

This has been the first official friendly visit to Vietnam since Kim Jong-un  inaugurated as DPRK President in 2011. The visit was a great landmark as he was the first DPRK leader to pay an official visit to Vietnam in the past 61 years following the official visit of President Kim Il-sung in 1958.

Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and head of the PCC's Communication and Education Commission Vo Van Thuong, Minister- Head of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Le Ba Vinh were present in Dong Dang Railway Station to see off the President.

Lang Son people also stood along the road to the station to bid farewell to Mr. Kim with the waves.

President Kim Jong-un thanked Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, Party and State leaders and the Vietnamese people for the solemn and heartwarming welcome. 

Within the visit framework, the North Korean leader had talks with Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Chairwoman of National Assembly of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan. 

On the occasion, DPRK President Kim Jong- un led the high ranking delegation to visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and lay a wreath at the Monument to Heroic Martyrs.

Earlier, both sides were unanimous in maintaining summits, high-ranking visits and dialogues contributing to strengthening exchange and discussion at all levels, mutual understanding and cooperation, and sharing experiences in multifaceted fields, etc.

Both sides also looked for ability and opportunity of cooperation on basic of mutual benefits, international rules and egreed to expand cultural & art, sports exchange and cooperation to mark the 70th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and DPRK (1950- 2020).
