Almost 106,000 hectares of cultivable area is facing water shortage, of which 25,000 hectares is under coffee plantation and 62,000 hectares under rice cultivation.

The cold front over the last three days has brought mild rainfall across several provinces such as Lai Chau, Yen Bai, Thai Binh, Ha Tinh, Quang Nam, Phu Yen, Gia lai, Binh Phuoc and Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

The rain showers have brought some respite to crops and eased water shortage. However, at only 19-31mm, it is still inadequate.
