Vietnam has an average of 180.7 telephones for 100 people, and there are over 25 million internet users in the country, accounting for 29 percent of the population, said a Deputy Minister for Information and Communications official.
Deputy Minister Le Nam Thang was speaking at a forum held on September 14 in Hanoi to discuss the country's growth of telecommunications.
He said as of August, Vietnam had 156 million telephone subscribers, of which 140 million were mobile users.
He said the ministry would work out plans to attract international telecom and internet-related businesses as well as companies in and out of the country. The ministry will continuously adjust legal documents in which create a favorite condition for the country’s telecoms growth, he added.
