Exhibition celebrates the 110th birth anniversary of the late Party General Secretary Le Duan

An exhibition marking the 110th birth anniversary of the late Party General Secretary Le Duan opened in Hanoi on April 5.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong cut ribbon to launch the event displaying nearly 300 photos, documents and objects that feature the late Party chief’s life and career and his significant contributions to the Party and nation's revolutionary cause.

In the memory book, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong wrote that late Party General Secretary Le Duan is a steadfast communist, a preeminent leader of the Party and State,  an outstanding student of late President Ho Chi Minh.”

On the same day, the Party Committee and People's Committee of Ha Tinh Province organized the inauguration ceremony of a bridge crossing Ke Go lake leading to the temple for the late Party General Secretary Le Duan at Ke Go Nature Reserve in Cam Xuyen District.

The construction was started in October 2016 with a total investmen of VND24.9 billion. The one-kilometer bridge measures 132m long and 3.4m wide, aiming at paying tribute to the late Party General Secretary.

On this occasion, the late General Secretary Le Duan’s son, Major General Le Kien Trung, Deputy General Director of the General Security Department under the Ministry of Public Security, and his family handed over 350 gifts worth VND300,000 each for students at Le Duan Kindergarten in Cam Due Commune, Cam Xuyen District.

Former Deputy Minister of Public Security Nguyen Van Huong also offered VND50 million to the Le Duan Kindergarten.

Comrade Le Duan was a founding member of the Indochinese Communist Party in 1930 and later became Party General Secretary. He was born into a patriotic family on April 7, 1908 in Bich La Village, Trieu Dong Commune, Trieu Phong District of central Quang Tri Province, though his home village is in Cam Xuyen District, Ha Tinh Province.

After nearly 60 years of revolutionary operation and 26 years of continuity in his position as the Party’s First Secretary and General Secretary, comrade Le Duan devoted his life to the struggle for national liberation, reunification and socialist construction.
