The Export-Import Bank has agreed to finance the acquisition of four Boeing 787 aircraft for Vietnam Airlines for US$100 million.

On April 22, the bank signed an agreement with Vietnam Airlines for the purchase of four new aircraft. Last year, the bank had also financed purchase of four Airbus A321 for the national carrier.

Pham Ngoc Minh, director of Vietnam Airlines, said the first Boeing 787 will be delivered by the second quarter of 2015.

Vietnam Airlines will eventually purchase and hire a total of 19 Boeing 787 planes to replace their current fleet on international routes.
