Pham The Duyet, President of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee, on December 23 visited Catholics in the Ke Sat and An Quy parishes in Trang Liet commune, Binh Giang district, northern Hai Duong province, on the occasion of Christmas.
Duyet extended the season’s greetings to Catholic dignitaries, priests and parishioners in Ke Sat and An Quy. He said he was delighted to see that this year, the Catholics jubilantly celebrate Christmas while the country enjoys important achievements. He praised religious unity in the national great unity bloc, and affirmed that the right to religious freedom is ensured by the law.
On behalf of about 8,000 Catholics in Ke Sat and An Quy parishes, priest Nguyen Chan expressed his pleasure at the improvement of the Catholics’ living conditions in the two parishes, and thanked the authorities of Hai Duong province and Binh Giang district for their assistance to Catholic people in their daily life as well as in religious activities.
The An Quy Church, built with funding contributed by local Catholics and put into operation in June 2007, is the biggest and most beautiful church in Hai Duong province.
