People in the financial sector got the highest salary rise in Viet Nam last year, a survey by job site Navigos Group has found.

People in the financial sector got the highest salary rise in Viet Nam last year, a survey by job site Navigos Group has found.

The study, done for the period from April 2007 to March 2008 and released in September, shows salaries in the sector rose by an average 31.6 percent.

Managers in the industry received an average gross salary of $19,591 per year, and employees $7,945.

Among regions, Ha Noi saw the highest salary rise in the country -- 3 percent more than in HCM city.

Vietnamese companies saw a marginally higher increase -- 20.2 percent – in wages than their foreign-owned counterparts.

The survey also found a clear correlation between education and salary level. The gross salary of people with master’s degrees was $30,820 while those with bachelor’s degrees got $10,263.
