Fire kills 8 at confectionery facility in Hanoi

8 people died after a fire broke out at a confectionery facility which makes cakes and chocolate in Hanoi’s Hoai Duc District on July 29.

According to the relevant departments, the fire occured at around 10:30 a.m. Locals heard an explosion before they saw the flames and smoke coming.
The fire caused the main door, the only entry and exit, to collapse. A group of people could not escape from the fire.
7 fire engines and many firefighters were dispatched to the scene to contain the fire which destroyed the entire 170-square-meter firm.
Investigation into the accident is underway.
