First metro line might be prolonged to Dong Nai, Binh Duong

The first metro line Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien in Ho Chi Minh City might be prolonged to Bien Hoa city in Dong Nai province and Binh Duong province, according to the city People’s Committee Office.

Specifically, the Dong Nai People’s Committee has sent a dispatch to the Ministry of Transport proposing to extend the first metro line by 4.7 kilometers from Suoi Tien cultural park to Vung Tau crossroads.

In addition, the People’s Committee of Binh Duong province has also sought the ministry’s approval to lengthen the route by 1.8 kilometers towards the province at a spot near My Phuoc-Tan Van road.

Meantime, the third metro line will be prolonged to connect with Tan An city in Long An province, announced the office.

The route will run through Districts 1, 10, 5, 6 and Binh Chanh in HCMC with the total length of 19.8 kilometers comprising underground and above the ground stretches.

In the first phase, a 9.7 kilometer underground stretch will be built from Ben Thanh terminal to Mien Tay coach station.

The second phase will invest in a 10.1 kilometer section from the station to Tan Kien depot.
