The Seafood Trade Intelligence Portal (STIP), Solidaridad, and Fresh Studio ran the competition. The finalists include Entobel, Green Solutions, Green Solutions, Verifik8, and Wind-powered aeration.
Entobel produces fish feed from insects fed with products from Vietnam’s food industry; it offers competitive prices.
Green Solutions produces a natural antioxidant preservative (NAP) extracted from avocado seeds that can replace current commercial additives such as sodium metabisulfite and sulfur dioxide, which are used to preserve shrimps. NAPs are environmentally friendly, safe and have the ability to keep shrimp fresher for longer than the current commercial additive (sodium metabilsulfite).
Verifik8, a new mobile monitoring and verification software platform designed to connect buyer and sellers. It gives seafood more assurances to buyers in their seafood procurements;
Wind-powered aeration - a new low-cost, easily maintainable pond aeration system with a low environmental impact.
