FM station breaks ground in Phu Quoc Island

A ground breaking ceremony was hosted for a 10kw FM radio station in Phu Quoc Island District of the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang on September 9.

The FM radio station is invested at VND35 billion (US$1.65 million) with most advanced technologies.

The station is expected to complete after five months and will be broadcast weather bulletins on the Radio the Voice of Vietnam’s channels VOV1 and VOV2 with the coverage of 100 kilometers.
 
English programs will be aired continuously for investment invitation and tourism.
 
The station plays significant role in socioeconomic and cultural development, national defense intensification, propaganda of foreign relation policies, information of natural disasters and establishment of Vietnam’s sovereignty over its sea and islands, according to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi, deputy chairman of the province’s People’s Committee.

The Phu Quoc station is one of six FM stations nationwide.
