General Secretary Sends Condolences to Typhoon Victims’ Families

General Secretary Nong Duc Manh visits flood victims' families in the Yen Bai province in 2005. 

Hearing the typhoon Chanchu caused many casualties and material losses to the Central Viet Nam coastal regions, Vietnamese General Secretary Nong Duc Manh has sent his condolences to the Party Committees and the people of Da Nang city, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai provinces and to the victims' families.

In his letter, the General Secretary wrote:

"I was deeply moved to hear that the typhoon Chanchu had caused many casualties and material losses to the Central Viet Nam coastal regions. On behalf of the Politburo, the Secretariat of the Central Committee, I would like to extend my condolences and deep sympathy to the Party Committees and the people of Da Nang city, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai provinces and to the victims' families.

I request that the Party Committees of the affected areas instruct the local authorities to well implement the Prime Minister’s urgent message, closely cooperating with the Central Rescue Forces and border guards to find out measures to continue searching for the missing and effectively organize the relief and rescue activities. Also, they must organize visits, encourage and help the victims’ families, and elaborately organize formal burials for the deaths.

I hope the Party Committees and the people of the cities and provinces of disaster to overcome their losses, promptly stabilize people’s lives to continue the implementation of their local socio-economic development plan, contributing to the completion of the nation's tasks and objectives for the year2006."
