Golfers donate over $36,000 for charity

About VND600 million (more than US$36,000) has been raised as funds for poor children via the Saigontourist Golf Tournament 2008, which took place in Ho Chi Minh City on August 2.

Of the sum, VND500 million came from money donations gathered by the tournament organizer – the Saigontourist Holding Company. Golfer Nguyen Hoang Vu, who won the Hole-in-one prize of a Mercedes car worth US$62,000, donated the other VND100 million.

The total sum was transferred to the HCMC Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients for charity purposes. This was the third year Saigontourist has organized the annual charity tournament.

This year saw the competition of 152 golfers and the trophy went to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Khoi.
