Government upgrades eastern highway connecting Mekong Delta provinces

Ministry of Transport in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Ben Tre yesterday organized a ceremony to upgrade four routes of National Highway No. 60 linking Rach Mieu and Co Chien Bridge  in the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre.

According to Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Nhat, National Highway No. 60 alongside the eastern seacoast connects Ho Chi Minh City and Mekong Delta coastal provinces as well as sea ports and coastal economic zones. Moreover, the road plays an important role for not only developing social economic conditions but also ensuring national security and defense in the Mekong Delta region.
 
Currently, bridges on National Highway No. 60 such as Rach Mieu, Ham Luong and Co Chien were opened to traffic. Next, Dai Ngai Bridge in Soc Trang province is scheduled to be finished in 2018.
 
The Management Board of Project No. 7 under Ministry of Transport said that the building and expansion project is expected to complete in the fourth quarter of 2017.
 
The expansion project had total length of 22, 38 kilometers starting from An Khanh commune, Chau Thanh district to Thanh Thoi A commune, Mo Cay Nam district.

Total investment capital for building and expansion project was VND 1,812 billion and it is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2017.
