The government has recently cracked down heavily on corruption, penalising as many as 577 leaders of the 678 found to have committed wrongdoings during the last five years in 101 cases of corruption and unlawful activities.

So far, the gov’t has penalised 77 leaders in Quang Nam Province, 46 in Binh Thuan Province, 41 in Bac Giang Province, 38 in Dak Lak Province and 31 in Cao Bang Province.

Meanwhile, 466 cases of corruption involving 727 suspects have also been detected and are under review.

To strengthen anti-corruption activities, the gov’t intends to focus on regulations on more openness and transparency in the functioning of agencies and organisations, while closely monitoring individuals and socio-political organisations and the assets and incomes of civil servants.
