Groundbreaking Held for Reservoir in Lao Cai Province

Thac Bac fall in Sapa

Groundbreaking was held for a reservoir in San Sa Lake commune in Sa Pa District in the northern province of Lao Cai, according to an announcement by the People’s Committee of Sa Pa District. The reservoir will be called Thac Bac and will be ready for use in 2010.

The lake will cover on an area of 5 hectares and will have a capacity of 230,000 cubic meters. It will supply water for villages along the Hoang Lien Son mountain range. The reservoir is expected to become a tourist attraction and will also be used as a place to feed salmon.

Construction is projected to cost VND21 billion (US$1.3 million).
