Hanoi issues detail planning for ancient town

The Hanoi People’s Committee has issued a detail plan for the ancient town regulating construction height and density in every street and population densities.

The ancient town is located in four districts Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem, Tay Ho and Hai Ba Trung over nearly 508 hectares including 215 blocks and 150 streets.

According to the plan, works in the ancient town are permitted to have 4-6 stories (about 16-22 meters). Construction density in blocks will not exceed 70 percent while population density will be about 230 people per hectare.

Hospitals in the town will not be allowed to broaden their land use areas and increase their bed number. Construction of new universities or vocational schools will be banned.

Hanoi will continue removing polluting production establishments and health clinics as well as headquarters of some ministries, agencies and universities out from the ancient town.
