HCM City, Binh Thuan Province enhance cooperation

A conference with aiming to review the cooperation and socioeconomic development for the period.2005-2014 between Ho Chi Minh City and the central coastal province of Binh Thuan was held in Phan Thiet City on October 14.

Binh Thuan leaders said the two sides’ cooperation in various fields, such as agriculture and rural development, science and technology, health, education and training, trading and service attained the goals for success.

Binh Thuan has attracted 140 projects totaling VND19, 481 billion from Ho Chi Minh City’s enterprises since 2006.

The local authorities of the two sides have also organized activities, aiming at promoting tourism, including Tourism Day and International Travel Expo (ITE) in Ho Chi Minh City; International Hot Air Balloon Festival and Nghinh Ong Festival in Binh Thuan Province. The events lured a large number of domestic and foreign visitors.

Secretary of the Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Le Thanh Hai highly appreciated Binh Thuan’s achievements, honored both businesses and praised the provincial authorities in creating advantages for the city’s investors.

Chairman of the HCMC People's Committee Le Hoang Quan and Chairman of the Binh Thuan People's Committee Le Tien Phuong signed agreement on the cooperation and socioeconomic development for the 2015-2020 period at the meeting.

Mr. Phuong granted also investment certificates for projects of Co.op Mart by the Sai Gon Union of Trading Co-operative and cultivation of freshwater seaweed by Phu Lac-Vinh Hao Nutrition Foods Company.

On this occasion, the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City funded the building of a kindergarten and gratitude houses for people who made outstanding contributions during the revolutionary era in Binh Thuan.

The city’s delegation early offered flowers at Ho Chi Minh Museum-Binh Thuan Branch, and visited Duc Thanh School where the late President worked as a teacher in 1910.
