HCMC donates US$5 million for friendship school in Laos

The Ho Chi Minh City Party committee has donated US$5 million to Laos to build the Vientiane-Ho Chi Minh City Friendship High School.

Le Thanh Hai, Politburo member and City Party Committee Secretary, Sombath Yialyher, Vientiane Party Committee Secretary and Lord Mayor, Ta Minh Chau, Vietnamese Ambassador in Laos and many high-ranking officials from HCMC attended the groundbreaking ceremony on April 12.  

At the ceremony, Mr. Le Thanh Hai called the Vientiane-HCMC Friendship High School a profound symbol of friendship, cooperation and solidarity between HCMC and Vientiane, which has survived the test of time.

Mr. Hai accompanied with other members of his delegation also called on Pani Yathoutu, the National Assembly Chairman of Laos.

Chairman Pani Yathoutu said the National Assembly wished to boost cooperation between the People’s Council of HCMC and exchange ideas and dialogue to further its growth. 

Mr. Hai in turn, expressed his keenness to cement relations between Vietnam and Laos and continuously strengthen, develop and reinforce the two countries’ political systems.

He also affirmed that the HCMC administration, Party Committee and people were always appreciative of the solidarity and friendship between the two countries and would continue to maintain the same.

Later, the delegation visited Sisavat Keobunphan, Chairman of the Lao Front for National Construction and participated in the Bunbimay traditional festival of Laos.
