HCMC Leader Welcomes U.S and EU Ambassadors

The Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan yesterday met with the U.S. Ambassador to Viet Nam Michael W. Michalak and the European Union (EU) Ambassador to Viet Nam Sean Doyle at the City Hall, Ho Chi Minh City.

The meeting was held during Mr. Michalak’s visit to the city. The U.S Ambassador praised Viet Nam for its outstanding economic achievements and expressed his hope for better cooperation between the two countries.

Mr. Michalak also said that one of his main targets during his term of office is to double the number of Vietnamese students in the U.S and to continue to encourage more U.S investment in Viet Nam.

Chairman Quan stressed that the Government will do its best to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries to ensure stability, peace and economic development in the region and the world at large.

HCMC Party Secretary Le Thanh Hai also had a meeting with Ambassador Michalak later that day.

Mr. Quan also met with the EU Ambassador to Viet Nam Sean Doyle to discuss urban management, foreign investment and urban climate changes in Viet Nam.

Chairman Quan welcomed Mr. Doyle to the country and expressed his hope that the EU will continue to remain the leading foreign investor in Viet Nam.

Ambassador Doyle affirmed that the EU is willing to further promote its cooperation with Viet Nam and HCMC, especially on issues related to energy, the environment and climate change.
