Heroes for peaceful life honored

An exchange titled “For a peaceful life” honored individuals and organizations who have outstanding contribution in prevention and struggle against crime during 12 years was held by the Ministry of Public Security in Ho Chi Minh City on August 31.

Examples are 217 residents in the community and soldiers of public security forces.

Among the heroes is student Nguyen Tran Minh Tuan who discovered and pursued people involved in circulating counterfeit money in the Mekong Delta Province of An Giang.

Duong Van Son, head of the Khuoi Noc village in Na Ri District of the northern province of Bac Kan, mobilized all of ethnic people to hand over guns and explosive materials.

A group of six motorbike-taxi drivers in Mekong Delta province of Long An captured 158 robbers and thieves in 126 cases.

“Street knight” Nguyen Van Minh Tien has caught and handed over  than 20 robbers and thieves to the police since 1997.

People also had a chance to meet with wives of martyrs including Phan Cong Viet and Tong Chi Thanh who respectively died in a capturing and arresting drug smugglers and saving people in a flood.

The event was also attended by Deputy PM Truong Vinh Trong Politburo member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, and General of the People's Security Force and Minister of Public Security Le Hong Anh.

Mr. Trong highly appreciated and praised contribution of typical examples.

On this occasion, Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank) gave a  VND10 million (US$500) deposite of each to 104 disadvantaged typical examples.
