Seven hydropower plants in the Central Highland province of Gia Lai have ceased operations due to water shortage.
Ayun Pa Thermoelectricity Plant is expected to close by May due to fuel shortage.
The national power supply allocated to Gia Lai Province for February was insufficient, with the supply reducing by over 123,000 kWh every day.
It is predicted that drought conditions are expected to last longer. Hence, the Gia Lai Power Company will reduce power supply by 5-8 percent in March and then a further 10-12 percent during the following three months.
