Indian President visits Cham Sculpture Museum & My Son Heritage Site

Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and his wife yesterday led a State delegation to visit Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture and My Son Heritage Site within a framework of a State visit to Vietnam from November 18- 20.

At the Cham sculpture museum, Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and his wife were introduced clearly about sculpture exhibits, including three national precious things.

Currently, the Museum of Cham Sculpture in collaboration with the National Museum of India has researched and compiled a book to introduce relations between the Cham and India sculpture which is planned to publish in India in December, 2018.

On the same day, the distinguished guests presented at My Son - a sample of the ancient Champa civilization which was recognized as a World Heritage Site.

Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and his wife visited the Cham tower-groups of B, C, D in My Son, and enjoyed performances of Saranai music instrument and drum dancing of Cham people.

The Indian President planted a Ficus tree (is also known as the Bo-Tree) which was moved from India to Vietnam. 

At the receiving ceremony, Secretary of Party Committee of Quang Nam province Nguyen Ngoc Quang said that a memorandum of understanding between Vietnamese and Indian Government about funded- project to preserve the My Son relic site was signed in 2014, contributing to restore My Son tower temple.
