Japanese Emperor & Empress's visit to VN brings historical significance

Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko yesterday arrived in Hanoi capital to begin their a state- level visit to Vietnam from February 28 to March 5, at an invitation of State President of Vietnam Mr. Tran Dai Quang.

After the official welcoming ceremony at Presidential Palace, the Vietnamese president and his wife met the distinguished visitors.

Within a warm friendly home-like atmosphere, president Quang believed that this visit will contribute strengthening mutual confidence, knowledge and good emotion between the two countries’ people in order to deepen Vietnam- Japan strategic partnership relations.

On behalf of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, the leader expressed thanks warm emotion of Emperor, Empress, royalty, government and people of the sunrise country for Vietnamese people in previous time.

The two leaders reviewed long- term partnership of Vietnamese and Japanese people since the eighth century; pleasured fast and advanced development of Vietnam and Japan over the past 40 years; and wanted to further the friendship cooperation ties in the upcoming time.

At the reception, president Quang introduced to the high- ranking guests about his country’s unique characteristics of the national culture, and desired to welcome members of Japanese royalty to Vietnam next year on the occasion of the 45th establishment anniversary of Vietnam- Japan diplomatic ties.

On the same day, National Assembly Chairwoman of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan had an exchange meeting with the delegation.

Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko laid a wreath at late President Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum.
