Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai asked the Ministry of Transport and relevant agencies to take measures to accelerate the progress of national key traffic projects.

He was speaking at a meeting with the State steering committee for major projects in the transport industry.
In general, the progress of projects in the field of traffic and transport is sluggish, the meeting was told.
Mr. Hai called on the Ministry to coordinate with the authorities of Hanoi and HCM City to submit a list, before February 20, of important projects that are to be started and completed this year.
The government has agreed to use the State budget for the fiscal 2010 year to pay costs in advance for the HCM City – Trung Luong expressway so that it can be completed this year, said Mr. Hai.
The incentive loan granted by the South Korean government would be spent on the construction of the operating center for the expressway, he added.
He assigned the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to assist agencies in working with the Asia Development Bank (ADB), and to set up a legal framework for site clearance for projects that use ADB loans.
Large projects that have been set up to mark the 1,000th anniversary of the founding of Thang Long-Hanoi are divided into two groups: the first is expected to be completed by the event and the second will be developed on the occasion of the event.
Several major projects, such as Thanh Tri Bridge, Lang – Hoa Lac road, Nam Thang Long – Son Tay section on Highway 32, the Mai Dich – Phap Van section on beltway III, will be completed and put into operation by the end of this year or in the second half of 2010, the meeting was told.
