Long An dragon fruit, rice receive US’s trademark certificates

The United States Patent and Trademark Office has granted trademark certificates for Chau Thanh dragon fruit and Cho Dao fragrant rice from the Mekong Delta province of Long An, said Director of the provincial Department of Science and Technology, Mai Van Nhieu.

The certificates will be valid for 10 years, he added. 

Cho Dao Hamlet in Can Duoc District’s My Le Commune is the only area in the province that can cultivate Cho Dao fragrant rice. The hamlet has 500 hectares of the fragrant rice with more than 1,500 tons of rice per year.

Chau Thanh District has nearly 2,200 hectares of dragon fruit plantation with the annual output of over 30,000 tons.
