Long Kien bridge collapsed due to overloaded trucks

According to the National Traffic Safety Committee, the Ho Chi Minh City Transport Department issued a quick report on collapse of Long Kien bridge in Phuoc Kieng ward, Nha Be district, Ho Chi Minh City due to an overloaded truck crossing the bridge.

Yesterday evening, the Long Kien bridge suddenly collapsed as a large amount of trucks traveled through the bridge. The incident caused many people with panic disorder and vehicles fell into the river.

After receiving the information, the functional forces quickly arrived in the scene in order to search and rescue victims, and investigate the cause of the incident.

Fortunately, nobody was killed in the incident. 

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport said that the agency will immediately carry out measures ad solutions to ensure traffic safety, repair the bridge, strive to put it into re-operation before the Lunar New Year. 

The Long Kien bridge with a length of 105.6 meters and a width of 3.3 meters was built before 1975.
