Military helicopter crashes during training exercise

A military helicopter crashed in the outskirts of Hanoi in the early morning of July 7 during a parachute training exercise.

The Russian-made Mi-171 plane of the Helicopter Regiment 916 of the Air Defence-Air Force Service’s Air Division 371 took off from Hoa Lac Airport in Hanoi ’s western district of Thach That at 7:30 am.

Sixteen minutes later, it lost contact and came down in Hoa Lac village, Binh Yen commune, about 3 km from the airport.

The General Staff and the General Department of Politics have sent working teams to the scene to coordinate with other forces in dealing with the incident.

The Vietnam News Agency will update on the plane accident after investigation agencies announce their official conclusions.
