The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism yesterday said that it disagreed with the Ministry of Construction’s proposal to build a cable car project in Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park in the north central province of Quang Binh.
The ministry noted that Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park had been recognized as the World Natural Heritage by UNESCO and as national special landscape; hence construction of a cable car must comply with the UNESCO Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage and Cultural Heritage Law.
The Construction Ministry has not consulted local and international experts about construction of the cable car, especially those from the World Heritage Center and the International Union for Conservation of Nature, said the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
As a result, it is not time to build the project in Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park now, it said.
