Ministry to raise public awareness of vocational training to reduce unemployment

Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Pham Thi Hai Chuyen said at a congress of Vietnam Youth Union yesterday that the ministry would work with related agencies to strengthen information to raise public awareness of vocational training.

Thanks to raising public awareness of vocational training the number of unemployed university graduates is hoped to decrease, she said.

The Minister asserted that many policies on vocational training had been issued to help ease unemployment in recent years and a program of loans for young people launched by the Communist Youth Union had offered nearly 5,000 jobs to young laborers.

The ministry is working out projects to support groups of young people as well as encourage young citizens to live in distant, island and disadvantaged areas to turn land here into good places, she added.

Minister Chuyen noted that young people should be more determined in fighting social evils especially drug and prostitute among their peers.

Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Quan expressed his desire to see that young people would grasp science and technology to contribute to country’s development process.
