In her closing remarks, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said the legislature mulled over laws and resolutions, and passed them with high consensus.
These documents will create a legal foundation to promptly deal with emerging issues, contributing to spurring socio-economic development in a rapid and sustainable way, and improving people’s living standards, she said.
The draft laws debated during the session are significant to the completion of the legal system on citizens’ basic rights and obligations, and socialist-oriented market economy institutions, national defence and security, and the country’s economic development and integration, she added.
The top legislator said the Government’s report reveals that Vietnam has reaped significant achievements in socio-economic development, national defence-security and foreign affairs.
Vietnam’s election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council with a record high number of votes has affirmed the country as a responsible and active member of the international community, she stressed.
However, amidst difficulties and challenges facing the national economy, the Government should acquire opinions of deputies and keep a close watch on the reality to take timely management measures in order to maintain the economic growth, ensure macro economic stability, curb inflation and flexibly cope with complex global economic and political developments, Ms. Ngan suggested.
She said the NA has decided to choose the implementation of policies and laws on child abuse combat as the topic for its supreme supervision in 2020.
The question-and-answer sessions took place in a democratic environment, drawing public attention, she said, urging Cabinet members, ministers and head of agencies to soon take concrete actions to realise their commitments.
