National flag carrier to bring home 724 workers from Libya

Vietnam Airlines (VNA) spokesman Le Truong Giang this morning said that the airline would send three flights to take 724 Vietnamese workers home from areas of conflicts in Libya this month.

Airbus A330 aircrafts will depart from Hanoi for Cairo, Egypt where the workers will gather in on August 9, 10 and 11.

The airline will work with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and the South Korean Huyndai Engineering Company to implement the plan.

VNA are doing procedures to ask for permission from ten countries to fly across their territories, arrange ground services at Cairo airport and closely work with authorized agencies to conduct three flights on schedule.

According to the plan, VNA will temporarily stop eight flights between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from August 9 to 12.

The airline hoped to enjoy the sympathy of passengers whose travel plans might be affected by the above schedule change, said Mr. Giang.

Information about affected flights will be continuously updated at the airport and on the media, he added.
