Nearly $6.19 billion proposed for first phase of North South Expressway

The Ministry of Transport has proposed a total funds of VND140,116 billion (US$6.19 billion), of which the state will assist VND55 trillion ($2.43 billion), to build the first phase of North South Expressway project.

The first phase of 2017-2022 is expected to start work on Mai Son stretch in Ninh Binh province, Bai Vot in Ha Tinh, Cam Lam in Khanh Hoa, Phan Thiet in Binh Thuan and Dau Giay in Dong Nai under public private partnership (PPP) model.

 

Cam Lo in Quang Tri and La Son in Thua Thien-Hue will be built under BT (Build-Transfer) form.

 

The above stretches will comprise four high speed lanes with the road face of 25 meters in width.

 

The second phase is scheduled in 2023-2028 with the total road length of 688 kilometers and investment capital of VND103,196 billion ($5.56 billion) to build the remaining stretches of the route.

 

Of the funds, the state budget is expected to provide VND44,456 billion and about VND58,740 billion will be raised from investors.

 

The third phase will take place after 2028 to complete the expressway with the scope suitable with approved plans and the total estimated capital of VND69,123 billion.
