Nearly $704,850 given to fishermen, navy soldiers

The Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU), along with Club ‘For Our Dear Hoang Sa-Truong Sa’ and Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund, held the third season of ‘Spring in remote islands’ on December 17, 2017.

Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh and First Secretary of HCYU Central Committee Le Quoc Phong attended the event.
The Club ‘For Our Dear Hoang Sa – Truong Sa’ was founded 3 years ago, having 81 groups and thousands of individual members at the moment.
During the last 3 years, the Club has raised almost VND22 billion ($969,150), offered nearly 5,000 scholarships to children of navy soldiers and poor fishermen, financed 62 students with disadvantaged backgrounds while transferring them to Ho Chi Minh City for further learning, and built 12 houses of gratitude.
In the event, 197 organizations and individuals donated nearly VND16 billion ($704,850) to residents, officers, and soldiers who are constantly protecting the sovereignty of the country’s islands and seas.
