Road No. 723, as it is called for now, is 138 kilometers long, which is 82 kilometers shorter than the old road, yet the route through old-growth forests is just as scenic.

Tourists and the residents of Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong, the two provinces through which it passes, have taken to the new road in droves.

The provincial governments have agreed to spend VND890 billion to widen and upgrade the road, and to seek the Vietnamese government’s permission to rename it. Khanh Hoa will contribute VND470 billion and Lam Dong VND420 billion.
