Nguyen Van Huong Scholarship awarded to outstanding medical students

The 15th Nguyen Van Huong Scholarships were given to 90 outstanding medical students at a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on April 23.

The awards ceremony was organized by Saigon Giai Phong   Newspaper, Pham Ngoc Thach Medicine University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

Attending the ceremony were Nguyen Tan Phong, Editor-in-Chief of Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper; Nguyen Tan Binh, director of the Department of Health; and Duong Quang Trung, Chairman of Nguyen Van Huong Scholarship Fund.

Speaking at the event, Nguyen Tan Phong recalled the development of the Nguyen Van Huong Scholarship Fund in the last 15 years. He praised the contributions of individuals and units within the health sector as well as the generosity of donors.

He congratulated the medical students of Ngoc Thach Medicine University and University of Medicine and Pharmacy who were honored at the ceremony and also asked them to continue to learn, practice, and apply professional ethics for the betterment of society.

At the ceremony, Cao Thi Lan Huong, a student of Pham Ngoc Thach Medicine University, who has received the scholarship for six consecutive years, expressed her deep gratitude to benefactors who have helped her with the scholarship.

This year, 90 students received scholarships, of which 70 received VND6,000,000 each, and 20 received VND4,000,000 per student.


The total worth of the scholarships was VND500 million. In the past 15 years, 900 medical students have been awarded Nguyen Van Huong Scholarships.
