North-South railways paralyzed as train crashes salt truck

Three men were injured in an accident between a train and a salt truck which brought the North-South railway into a standstill and caused the locomotive to derail.

The SE5 train suddenly crashed into a salt truck with the license plate number 85C-025.14 heading to the National Highway A1 in Thuan Nam district’s Ca Na commune of the Ninh Thuan province, at about 1:15 PM yesterday.
Consequently, the locomotive came off the rails and the damaged truck lay on the field nearby. The driver and his assistant driver suffered severe injuries, while the assistant train engineer received minor wounds.
The local authorities were on the scene to handle the accident.
Passengers on the train couldn’t continue their trip because the locomotive was derailed.
The Vietnam Railways has sent another locomotive to bring the train to Hoa Minh station.
