Numbers, Progress and Scholarships at Can Tho Building Show

Hundreds of companies from Australia, China, Thailand, Viet Nam and elsewhere exhibited their goods and services at the Vietconstruct Expo 2007 building show in Can Tho City from July 14 to 18.

The organizers used the occasion to introduce the Tay Do Civic Center project, which will occupy 100 hectares of Can Tho and feature a large square, museum, library, theater, youth and children’s culture houses, parks and other amenities.

The VND5-trillion project (that’s some US$312.5 million) should take ten years or so to complete.

The building trade was not the event’s only beneficiary. To keep them at school and improve their chances for the future, 50 disadvantaged children from Can Tho and nearby Tra Vinh and Hau Giang provinces received VND500,000 scholarships from the show’s organizers.
